Final Flight: A Baseball Poem
The crack of the bat, a thunderous roar,
Sends the ball soaring, high and pure.
It arcs through the air, a graceful flight,
A moment of beauty, pure delight.

But gravity's pull, it cannot deny,
And down it falls, towards the earth it will fly.
Through the infield it bounces, a desperate race,
Towards the catcher's mitt, its final resting place.
The catcher awaits, his mitt outstretched wide,
To cradle the ball, its journey to ride.
With a gentle thud, it lands in his glove,
The final flight, now come to an end, thereof.
The crowd erupts, a roar of applause,
As the pitcher and catcher exchange a pause.
The batter walks away, his head held high,
Knowing he gave it his all, even though he may not have gotten by.
But the ball, it lies still, its journey done,
A silent witness to the game that was won.
It carries with it the weight of the game,
The hopes and dreams of those who played the same.
So here's to the ball, the final flight,
A symbol of beauty, a symbol of might.
May it forever remind us of the thrill of the chase,
And the joy of the game, even in defeat's embrace.
